Early Years, Physical Education (PE), Initial teacher training (ITT) and newly qualified teacher (NQT) development
Throughout my career I have been lucky enough to teach in Early Years and Key Stage 1. I have had the opportunity to work with other schools to develop Early Years settings and develop practice to ensure all children receive an inspirational education.
Support and Qualifications:
During my time at Metheringham Primary I have been able to develop Sport and P.E. throughout the school. This gives me an opportunity to work with all Foundation Stage, KS1 and KS2 classes. Involvement in Sport has increased greatly throughout the school and this has had a positive impact on our school ethos, children’s well-being and our trophy cabinet! I believe strongly that Sport should be for all and I have strived to make sure all children have the opportunity to shine in some aspect of P.E. or Sport.
Most current work/experience:
During my different careers I have always been a mentor and coach to those I have had the opportunity to work with. As a mentor, I feel I have been able to facilitate others to question their own practice and coach them to instigate change where needed. I try to understand others and to work as cohesively as possible to ensure that as a team we are striving for the same goal.
Why you wanted to become an SLE:
I have taken the role of Specialist Leader of Education as I have a passion for delivering a high level of education to all who come under my care. This drives me to be the best practitioner I can be. I immensely enjoy working with others and building strong partnerships that benefit all children. Sharing good, innovative practice is something that I do on a daily basis both within the team at Metheringham and in the wider educational community. It would be a pleasure to share this other with settings.
